Geography

Connecticut is located in the north-east of the United States and is bordered to the north,

east and west by the states of New York, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
The coast of the Long Island Sound forms the southern edge of Connecticut.

Although Connecticut has a long maritime history, it actually has no direct access to the sea. The jurisdiction of New York extends east at Fishers Island, where New York shares a sea border with Rhode Island dividing Narragansett Bay.

While Connecticut does have easy access to the Atlantic, between Long Island Sound and Block Island Sound, there is, in fact, no direct ocean coast in Connecticut.

The highest mountain peak in Connecticut is Bear Mountain (2,326 feet), in Salisbury, in the northwest corner of the state.
